Harbour Lights
A festival identity built from the flash pattern of the pier lighthouse.
Harbour Lights runs for three nights each September on a working pier, and the brief was to make a mark that could survive being wet, dark and seen from a distance.
The lighthouse at the end of the pier flashes a fixed pattern every twelve seconds. That rhythm became the system: a set of beams at fixed angles that recombine into a different lockup for each stage, each night, and each of the forty-odd printed pieces. Nothing needed a second colour.
The signage was screen-printed onto reclaimed marine ply by a workshop two streets from the pier, then bolted to the existing railings.
