Wall texts for a show about coastal erosion, printed on paper that degrades over the run.
A six-week exhibition on coastal erosion at a regional gallery. The curators wanted the interpretation to argue rather than explain.
The wall texts were printed on an untreated stock chosen to yellow and cockle under the gallery’s south-facing windows. By the closing weekend the earliest panels had visibly moved. Visitors who came twice noticed; visitors who came once read a legible label. Both were the intended experience.
Type was set oversize and low on the wall, at the height of the tide line marked in the accompanying photographs.
